Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Shield Renu services

General Questions

Services are priced on a simple per-item, per-service basis, allowing hospitals to only pay for what is actually serviced. Costs vary depending on the number of lead aprons and the services selected — such as inspection, cleaning, and tagging/inventory — with volume discounts available for larger quantities. No contracts, no hidden fees.
No. Shield Renu does not require any contracts or long-term commitments. Hospitals have the flexibility to use services as needed, making it easy to schedule annual inspections, cleaning, or inventory management without being locked into an agreement.
Shield Renu offers a faster, easier, and more efficient way to manage radiological lead aprons. By bringing a fully mobile service on-site, hospitals benefit from same-day turnaround without disrupting imaging rooms or staff workflow. Every item is fully X-rayed, cleaned, and digitally tracked, providing accurate records and peace of mind for compliance.
Yes. When performing all three services — annual integrity inspections, cleaning, and tagging/inventory — Shield Renu can handle upwards of 500+ pieces of lead per day. If only inspections are performed, that number can increase even further. Turnaround also depends on the hours worked and how efficiently the hospital supplies lead aprons for service.
No. All services are performed in the Shield Renu mobile trailer parked on your hospital grounds. Your imaging rooms, equipment, and staff are never disrupted.
The hospital simply needs to provide access to a parking area for our mobile service trailer and coordinate the delivery of lead aprons to our unit. Our team handles everything else — from inspection and cleaning to tagging and reporting.

Inspection Questions

Shield Renu can inspect upwards of 500+ garments per day. Most facilities are completed in a single day.
Aprons that fail inspection are documented in your Shield Renu App report, including photos of any defects. Each failed item will also be marked with a yellow “ALERT” tag attached by a zip tie. Failures may range from small cracks to larger holes. The hospital is responsible for determining how to handle failed aprons, as Shield Renu does not dispose of them.

Tagging & Inventory Questions

Aprons are briefly taken to our mobile trailer for tagging and returned the same day
